The 2016 Tartan is a delicious entry-level Merlot-based blend from Steward. Bold and racy, the 2016 shows off a whole range of red-toned fruit and floral overtones, all in a midweight, fleshy style that is ready to offer quite a bit of pleasure. This is one of my favorite wines in the range for its pure deliciousness. (AG)

Named for the Stewart family's Scottish roots, Tartan is the winery's Napa Valley red blend rather than one of its single-vineyard Cabernet bottlings. Stewart Cellars has built its program around Napa Bordeaux varieties, working with growers across the valley and presenting the wines from its Yountville home base.
