Clouds Rest is a small family winery founded in 1999 by John Saemann on Sonoma Mountain in Petaluma, where he planted Pinot Noir on ancient volcanic rock in the Petaluma Gap. Winemaker Anthony Austin, a UC Davis enology graduate who studied under André Tchelistcheff and directed the first crush at Firestone in Santa Barbara in 1976, has produced all of the Clouds Rest wines since the label's first vintage. All wines are single-vineyard and single-varietal, with the Femme Fatale being the estate's Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
