2014 Roc de Cambes, Côtes de Bourg

“The 2014 Roc de Cambes is all perfume and silk in the glass. Understated and lifted in style, the 2014 is beautifully layered, with plenty of sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint and spice. All the elements are nuanced and delineated in an open-knit wine that should offer a wide window of fine drinking. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. (AG)” (03/2015)

“Burnished ruby in colour, notes of woody, underbrush, and sweetly spiced cinnamon lift from the glass. Hints of that Mitjavile inky slate, with ripe degrading redcurrant and blueberry. The palate is plush and full, rounded and fat, but with crisp acidity and finely judged tannins to balance. The flavours follow the nose with more cooly ripe slatey plum and cassis juice. So very un-2014 Bordeaux. The finish is grippy, but broad. In sum, like a boozy plum hug. (AC)” (05/2024)
