2011 Prisoner Wine Co. "The Prisoner" Napa Valley Red Blend
Quantity: 3
Bottle Size: 750 ml
Provenance: Purchased from reputable sources on release and stored in a professional storage facility by a CA-based collector. Delivered to K&L via refrigerated transit.
Condition: Excellent
A perennial favorite as a crowd-pleaser and fun Napa red, the 2011 Prisoner is Zinfandel-based (51%) blend with a balance of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and just a splash of Charbono and Grenache. It was sourced from well-known vineyards such as Ink Grade, Somerson, Solari, and York Creek. The wine has found a following from lovers of fruit-forward and jammy wines, but it has enough substance to please those who prefer their California reds a bit more structured. Not just a cocktail wine, this hefty red pairs very well with braised meats and barbecue. From original winemaker Dave Phinney: "The wine has a dense red and black hue that is framed in vibrant crimson. Aromas of Bing cherry, espresso, roasted fig, and vanillin oak accents are persistent. The entry is powerful and generous, supported with lively acidity while flavors of ripe raspberry, pomegranate, and wild berry fruit linger harmoniously. Soft, integrated tannin chains allow the wine to be approachable now and provides for a pleasant finish."

2013 Prisoner Wine Company "The Prisoner" Napa Valley Red Blend
Quantity: 3
Bottle Size: 750 ml
Provenance: Purchased from reputable sources on release and stored in a professional storage facility by a CA-based collector. Delivered to K&L via refrigerated transit.
Condition: Excellent
A perennial favorite as a crowd-pleaser and fun Napa red, the 2013 Prisoner is a Zinfandel-based (44%) blend with the balance in Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and just a splash of Charbono. It was sourced from well-known vineyards such as Somerston, Solari, York Creek and Hudson. The wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak (30% new) before bottling. This eclectic wine has found a following from lovers of fruit-forward and jammy wines, but it has enough substance to please those who prefer their California reds a bit more structured. Not just a cocktail wine, this hefty red pairs very well with braised meats and barbecue. From the winery: "Aromas of briar fruits and dried cherry are accented by hints of vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, tiers of blueberry, ripe mulberry and boysenberry give way to an edge of espresso, cracked pepper and a seasoning of fall spice. These dense aromas and flavors culminate in a lingering finish framed by refined tannins."

“The 2013 Proprietary Red Blend The Prisoner is a creative blend of 44% Zinfandel, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petite Sirah, as well as Syrah, Grenache and Chardonnay. This dense, full-bodied, opulent red reveals gutsy, rich, peppery, meaty, blackberry, blackcurrant and licorice notes. A savory, lusty, heady red, it begs for a grilled steak or a big, juicy hamburger. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. (RP)” (10/2014)

“Very opulent and flamboyant red with blackberry, licorice, asphalt and plum. Full-bodied, rich and flavorful. So much form and depth. Love the fruit. Chocolate and dark fruit. Yet fresh still. Mostly zin with cabernet sauvignon, petite sirah, syrah and charbono.” (06/2016)

“Bold and stylish, with dark cherry, toasty oak and black pepper aromas and briary, dense flavors of blackberry, espresso and grilled anise. The tannins tighten on the finish. Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono. Drink now through 2021. (TF)” (06/2015)

“The powerful blend is as big as ever in this vintage, combining Zinfandel with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono. The grapes are sourced from some of Napa Valley’s finest sites, including Tofanelli Vineyard in Calistoga. It’s expressive and expansive in tobacco and tar, thick and rich, with a finish of bittersweet chocolate.” (11/2015)
