Reviewed February 2026The yields were so short in Vaulorent this year that Guillaume had to store the wine in one
of those very small tanks that has a floating top to accommodate the small volume of wine. He
mentioned that he bottled this wine in August of 2025, earlier than the other premier crus, as he
just did not trust the seal on the top of the moveable top and did not want the wine to oxidize while
awaiting bottling. The wine has turned out brilliantly, delivering a complex and vibrant nose of
lemon, pear, a touch of anise, white flowers, a complex foundation of chalky minerality and a
topnote of oyster shell. On the palate the wine is pure, precise, full-bodied and mineral-driven in
personality, with a great core of fruit, racy acids and stunning length and grip on the impeccably
balanced, complex and precise finish. Grand cru quality. 2029-2060.

This has more suppleness than Vaulorent tends to have early on, and it’s very attractive, if unusual. Piles of citrus are accompanied by curls of chimney smoke, freshly baked biscuits and linden tea. The lingering finish freshens up as the acidity resurfaces to carry on the limestone length.

Fresh pale lemon. Fine tension on the nose, not voluptuous, though it does open out on the palate. Ripe apples, a suggestion of fresh apricot, quite graceful, with adequate acidity. Good. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Jun 2025.

The 2024 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has a fine sea spray- and limestone-scented bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is well balanced, cohesive and poised, with a keen line of acidity and decent weight on the finish. This is not bad at all.(NM)
