Reviewed May 2024The 2021 Petit Verdot is gorgeous. Rich, deep and expressive, but not at all forced, the 2021 offers up scents of black forest berries, graphite, lavender, mocha, tobacco and spice. Firm tannins extend the finish effortlessly. The 2021 offers plenty of varietal character and mountain structure without being overly imposing. (AG)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Petit Verdot needs a bit of swirling and shaking to bring out notes of crushed blackberries and juicy plums followed by hints of tapenade, garrigue, and damp soil with a waft of black peppercorns. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers compelling freshness, with bright, cheery black fruits and soft, well-managed tannins, finishing savory. (LPB)

The 2021 Petit Verdot showed beautifully, with a smoky black and blue fruit-driven profile as well as some sappy herb and bay leaf nuances, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a layered, nicely balanced, silky profile. I like it today, yet it should have 10-15 years of longevity. I think it's clearly an outstanding wine.
