Heaven's Door 18 Year Old "Bootleg: Volume V" Spanish Vermouth Finished Straight Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)
Notes
Heaven’s Door Bootleg Series Volume V is a genuinely unusual entry in the high-end American whiskey world, not because of the Bob Dylan connection, but because the whiskey itself takes a serious swing. This fifth release in the annual Bootleg Series is an 18 year old straight bourbon bottled at 114 proof and finished in Spanish Rouge vermouth casks, an inspired and highly uncommon choice for mature bourbon. Vermouth is an aromatized fortified wine built on botanicals, herbs, and spice, and the red Spanish casks push this whiskey into territory that feels richer, darker, and more savory than the typical luxury bourbon playbook. The age gives it real depth, the proof gives it presence, and the finish adds a distinct wine-driven complexity without turning it into a gimmick. The release was overseen by Master Distiller Ken Pierce and Master Blender Alex Moore, and, as always with the Bootleg Series, the presentation is part of the draw: a ceramic bottle featuring Bob Dylan’s No Vacancies from The Beaten Path Collection. This is also the first Bootleg release in 700ml format, and one of the most ambitious from the series to date. At this price level it is unapologetically aimed at collectors, but the whiskey is far more than packaging. Mature, idiosyncratic, savory, and memorable, Volume V proves Heaven’s Door can still surprise in a crowded luxury bourbon market.
