Lots of blackberry and forest-floor aromas with pine needles and bark that follow through to a full body with a pretty framing of chewy yet medium-grained tannins and a flavorful finish. Fresh too.

A larger production offering blended with tiny amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, aged 18 months in French oak, most of it one year old, this wine is earthy and thick. Tobacco, tar and grippy tannins round out a palate of rich black fruit and leathery texture. (VB)

Offers good intensity and energy, with bramble-edged plum, blackberry and boysenberry compote flavors pumping through. The finish is scored by sweet tobacco and apple wood. (JM)

The base appellation 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is solid, offering a dense purple color to go with beautiful cassis and blueberry fruit as well as notes of tobacco, graphite, and crushed stone. Rich and mouth-filling, it has some firmer, chewy tannins, but loads of mid-palate depth and a great finish.

Notes

Alpha Omega began in 2006 when Robin and Michelle Baggett established their Rutherford-based, Napa Green–certified estate with a focus on Bordeaux varieties and meticulous, small-lot production. The winery sources from top Napa sites including Beckstoffer To Kalon, Georges III, Dr. Crane, Las Piedras, Thomas Vineyard, and its own estate parcels, allowing a broad expression of valley terroirs. Winemaking blends Old World hand-tended practices with New World technology, relying on native-yeast barrel fermentations for flagship wines like ERA and its Single Vineyard bottlings. Sustainable farming, selective use of French oak, and a commitment to handcrafted methods define the cellar approach.
