Reviewed March 2019The pale lemon colored 2016 de Myrat opens a little youthfully subdued and cedary, giving way to a beautiful core of lemon curd, grapefruit and honey-drizzled white peaches plus hints of lanolin, spice cake and crème caramel. Big, full, rich and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, the palate is completely coated with generous citrus and spicy flavors, finishing long and honey laced. 94+ (LPB)

Decanter
A deuxième-cru classé Sauternes, Myrat dates back to the 1700s. Located close to Climens, Coutet and Doisy-Daëne, the 22 hectares of vines are planted on clay soils with limestone outcrops. There is plenty of intensity of the palate here, with some botrytised notes of burnt orange, together with fresh acidity and just the right amount of residual sweetness. Relatively early drinking. The 2016 Château de Myrat has more depth than the Sigalas Rabaud, again quite Riesling-like, with hints of green olive infusing the honey and lanolin scents. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, good weight, admirable purity and an elegant finish that urges you to take another sip. This shows better than it did just after bottling.
