Review Date: 01/2025A beautiful mid purple colour with a very enhanced class to the fruit on the nose. This is very complete again with the more rigid structure, little waves of fruit keep pouring across the palate, almost daintily given the power. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.

The 2023 les Cailles from Domaine Chevillon is another beautiful bottle in the making. The complex bouquet delivers scents of black cherries, sweet dark berries, pigeon, nutskin, woodsmoke, a complex base of dark soil tones, new oak and a topnote of peonies. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and supremely elegant for young Nuits St. Georges, with a sappy core of fruit, suave, buried tannins and a long, complex balanced and classy finish. I love the backend energy here! 2040-2090.

Wafting from the glass with notes of cherries, smoky berries, licorice and rose petals, the 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with its usual suave, seamless profile and lively fruit flavors.
Domaine Robert Chevillon is one of the Côte d'Or's stalwart, producing hearty, characterful wines that stand the test of time. Old vines, cultivated soils, moderate yields and long macerations at comparatively high temperatures with entirely destemmed grapes are the order of the day at this address, with the Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes seeing some 20% new oak and the premiers crus 30%. Nuits's Tonnellerie Sirugue is the dominant supplier of barrels. The 2023 vintage has turned out nicely at this address, delivering wines somewhat reminiscent of a riper version of the 2017s, and with a suppleness that somewhat tempers the habitually more structured cuvées in the cellar, which this year have performed especially well.(WK)

Note: from a 1.12 ha parcel of 75+ year old vines. Moderate wood sets off ripe aromas of poached plum, crushed anise and pretty violet hints. There is a bit more volume to the delicious and lightly stony flavors that also are not particularly dense but the length is seriously impressive as is the balance. Moreover, this very classy effort should drink well a bit earlier than usual.*Burghound Outstanding!*
