Wine Advocate
Review Date: 04/2008The 2006 GV5, a blend of 77% Carinena, 15% Garnacha, and 8% Syrah, is similarly styled but just a bit more compact and structured. Nevertheless, it too is an outstanding Priorat. (JM)

Notes
Gratavinum began in 2003 when the Cusiné family of Parés Baltà moved into Priorat’s steep llicorella terrain, establishing organically and biodynamically farmed parcels around Gratallops and Poboleda. The estate works mainly with old-vine Garnatxa and Cariñena, alongside small plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, all dry-farmed on slate terraces that force deep rooting and yield concentrated fruit. GV5 is the flagship Priorat bottling, built around the region’s traditional red varieties with Cariñena playing a central role. Winemaking follows a clean, low-intervention approach aimed at preserving fruit and site character, supported by Demeter-certified biodynamic practices since 2012.
