The 2023 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Martina is a polished, sleek wine, very much in the Elio Grasso style. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red cherry/plum fruit, mocha, dried flowers, blood orange and exotic spice. Pliant and supple, the Barbera is so engaging right out of the gate. True to the estate's style, this wine effectively bridges the grape's natural high-toned energy with the structural depth gained from aging 18 months in French oak barriques. The 2023 vintage is highly expressive and supple out of the gate. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet of dark red cherry, plum, and wild violet, layered with broader notes of mocha, blood orange, and exotic spice. The palate is pliant and succulent, balancing a rich core of dark fruit with a driving, mineral-edged acidity and incredibly silky tannins.
