1971 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli "Antichi Vigneti Propri" Barolo Riserva
Notes
Giacomo Borgogno & Figli is one of Barolo’s foundational historic estates, renowned for preserving the region’s traditional winemaking methods through generations of family ownership dating back to the 18th century. The “Antichi Vigneti Propri” Riserva was produced from the estate’s own historic vineyard holdings surrounding the commune of Barolo, where calcareous marl soils and elevated hillside sites yield Nebbiolo with remarkable structure and aging capacity. Borgogno’s uncompromisingly classical approach — long macerations, aging in large neutral botti, and extended cellar maturation before release — produces wines that embody the earthy depth, tar-and-rose complexity, and austere longevity that define traditional Barolo at its most authentic.
