Mongeard's Echezeaux Vieilles Vignes is produced from two old vine parcels, one planted in 1927 and the other in 1929. Medium-to-dark ruby-colored, the old vine intensity can easily be discerned in its deeply powerful, black cherry-filled aromas and thick-textured, chewy personality. Packed with flavors of black raspberries and ripe red cherries, this wine has superb structure and length. (PR)

More saturated deep red. Big, sweet, smoky, black cherry nose. Large-scaled, lush and deep, with a creamy old-vines sweetness. Offers mouthfilling grand cru texture yet seems a bit obvious. Finishes quite long, with substantial, slightly aggressive tannins. (ST)

Notes

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is a long-established family estate in the Côte de Nuits, renowned for extensive holdings in some of Burgundy’s most prestigious grand cru vineyards and for wines that combine richness with classical structure. Echézeaux is one of the largest grand crus of the Côte d’Or, where limestone and clay soils across the mid-slope vineyards produce Pinot Noir noted for its aromatic generosity and layered complexity. Sourced from old vines with naturally low yields, this Vieilles Vignes bottling reflects the concentration, earthy depth, and age-worthy structure that have long defined traditional grand cru Burgundy from Vosne-Romanée’s orbit.
