2013 Favia Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon
97
The Wine Independent
Review Date: 04/2024Deep garnet in color, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville erupts from the glass with powerful notes of black cherry compote, blackcurrant preserves, and stewed plums plus hints of camphor, licorice, and fertile loam. The full-bodied palate is densely packed with black fruit and earthy layers, supported by firm, beautifully ripe tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and mineral-laced. (LPB)

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville is another impressive wine in this range from Favia. Red-toned fruit, white pepper, chalk, mint and orange peel give the 2013 notable freshness and an unusually bright profile. I very much like the energy and drive. (AG)

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from the southeastern Napa AVA of Coombsville has a similar saturated ruby/purple color. It’s slightly more chunky with muscular blackberry and blueberry fruit, full body and a very structured, reserved, backward personality. This is a beauty, slightly bigger and more tannic than the other Favia offerings. Drink it over the next 25 years. 94+ (RP)

A hearty, robust style, dense and earthy, with a solid core of chewy graphite, charcoal and crushed rock flavors. Shows structure and personality, though the licorice and blackberry notes are slow to reveal themselves. Best from 2020 through 2033. (JL)
