There's an explosion of aromatics and flavors in this white, with honeysuckle, Asian pear, Honeycrisp apple and wild thyme accents to the crisp, mouthwatering laser beam of Meyer lemon and pomelo flavors. Finishes with even more details of coconut water and lemon verbena, and the flavors just go on and on. (MW)

Lots of white grapefruit, mint, green Jolly Rancher, and tart peach emerge from the 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, another terrific white from this estate. Possessing medium body, notable concentration, and bright acidity, it’s going to be versatile on the dinner table...

The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Linea (62% Clone 1 and 38% Musqué) is whole-cluster pressed, fermented in neutral oak and stainless steel and made without malolactic fermentation. It leaps from the glass with passion fruit, fresh pineapple and green mango scents with hints of elderflower, chalk dust and yuzu zest. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers an electric current of tropical fruits with a racy acid line and long, vivacious finish. (LPB)

The 2017 Linea, Favia's 100% Sauvignon Blanc, is especially hushed in this vintage, with less of the textural intensity it so often shows. Orchard fruit and floral notes are nicely woven together in this attractive, polished, if somewhat understated Sauvignon. (AG)

Notes

Favia Wines was founded in 2003 by viticulturist Annie Favia and winemaker Andy Erickson, who built the project around small-lot Napa Valley and Sierra Foothills fruit handled with minimal intervention. Their home base is a historic 1886 stone-cellar property in Coombsville, where they farm Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in volcanic soils and work closely with select growers across Coombsville, Oakville, Carneros, and Amador County. Production remains limited, generally a few hundred cases per bottling, with native-yeast fermentations, gentle extraction, and a focus on site expression. In 2023 they expanded into an 86-acre Oakville estate, marking the next phase of the winery’s long-term development.
