2018 Arietta Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
96
Vinous
Review Date: 12/2020The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of two sites in Coombsville. Scorched earth, herbs, licorice, mint and black cherry all grace this savory, wonderfully layered Cabernet. All the elements come together, with bright acids and striking nuance laced throughout. This is such a classy, elegant Napa Valley Cabernet. I loved it. (AG)

Notes
Arietta was founded in 1996 by Fritz and Caren Hatton with John and Maggy Kongsgaard, building its identity around limited-production Bordeaux-style blends sourced from cooler Napa sites. Early wines centered on a small Cabernet Franc block at Hudson Ranch, later expanding to Merlot, Syrah, and select Cabernet Sauvignon parcels from Howell Mountain and Coombsville. Andy Erickson became winemaker in 2005, introducing the white wine On The White Keys from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Arietta continues to produce small-lot wines at Hudson Winery, emphasizing meticulous fruit selection and long-term grower relationships.
