The 2017 Merlot Hudson Vineyards is open-knit, racy and seductive. Red cherry and floral notes show a good bit of primary intensity. It will be interesting to see if the 2017 gains a bit more depth and complexity over the course of its aging. Today, the Merlot is not as expressive as is typically the case. (AG)

The 2017 Merlot Hudson Vineyards (100% Merlot) is deep garnet-purple colored and features warm cassis, baked plums and stewed black cherries notes with hints of mocha, black olives and dried herbs. Full-bodied, it has compelling tension and a good core of muscular fruit, supported by rugged tannins, finishing long and earthy. (LPB)
