Burghound

Review Date: 01/2015

There is enough reduction present to push the underlying fruit to the background. By contrast there is lovely freshness to the delicious if quite virile medium weight plus flavors that possess both good power and punch, all wrapped in a moderately austere and impressively persistent finish.

Vinous

Review Date: 11/2016
Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a much better nose than those from Vougeraie and Méo-Camuzet, offering red plum, raspberry preserve, rose petals and hints of sage in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, redcurrant and cranberry fruit, nicely focused with a strict and linear, yet intense finish. (NM)

Notes

From Burgundy's walled Clos de Vougeot grand cru, this Pinot Noir comes from Domaine François Lamarche, a Vosne-Romanée estate with holdings centered in the Côte de Nuits. The 2013 vintage was a small, late-ripening Burgundy year, and Lamarche was under the direction of Nicole Lamarche during this period.
