2000 Angelus, St. Emilion 12-Pack in OWC
Notes
97 points from the Wine Spectator... 'Wow. Greatest Angélus I have ever tasted. This is a kick-ass wine. Incredible aromas of crushed blackberries and cherries, with wet earth, mineral and mint. Full-bodied, with fantastically refined, silky tannins and a long, long, long finish. Terrific. Best after 2010. (Jan-03)' 96-98 points from Parker! ‘The finest Angelus since the 1990 and 1989, in terms of pure classicism and potential longevity, the 2000 may ultimately surpass those two vintages. Unmistakably, this is a vin de garde, a huge massive, firm, extraordinarily well-delineated Angelus with terrific purity and freshness. The color is a saturated port-like purple/black. With airing, the reluctant aromatics reveal scents of licorice, truffles, blackberries, plums, crème de cassis, smoke, and incense. The wine is excruciatingly tannic, but also phenomenally concentrated, full-bodied, and rich. Paradoxically, it is viscous yet has good acidity, one of the unusual characteristics of the 2000 vintage. The gives the wine freshness and delineation in spit of surreal levels of extract and richness. This looks to be one of the wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2035 (April-2001)’ NOTE - This is a pre-arrival (futures) item. The 2000 Bordeaux futures will begin arriving around Spring 2003, and some may be delayed beyond then. When the wine arrives we will contact you for shipping instructions.
