Review Date: 12/2024This wine, blending Tannat and the two Cabernets, comes from one of the premium Madiran vineyards. It is, of course, young, its dark chocolate aroma and rich, dense black fruits showing a wine with a fine future. Drink this impressive Alain Brumont wine from 2026. (RV)

The 2019 Château Bouscassé, a blend of 70% Tannat, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon picked at the same time and co-fermented, possesses a perfumed, fresh bouquet of dark wild berries, spices, flowers and mulberries. Medium to full-bodied, polished and fleshy, it’s layered and enveloping with a charming, seamless profile for a Madiran that segues into powdery tannins and a long, mineral finish. It demands some patience. (YC) 93+

The 2019 Château Bouscassé delivers ripe black fruits alongside wood smoke, cloves and licorice. Leafy gradations can be traced back to the addition of Cabernet Franc. Polished tannins lend a gentle structure to this medium-bodied red that’s easygoing and savory. The 2019 spent the first year in barriques (30% new) followed by two years in 80-hectoliter foudres.
