The 2001 San Leone, an unusual blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, and Petit Verdot, is even richer and riper in aroma, very tarry and licorice-laden, dense and almost chewy in texture, very mineral from the contribution of Petit Verdot, muscular, weighty, and with an important future potential. (DT)
