The Wine Independent
“The 2019 Wildfoote Vineyard Vixen Block Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color. Fragrant notes of chocolate mint, candied violets, and mossy tree bark jump from the glass, giving way to a core of blackcurrant jelly, blueberry compote, and fruitcake with a touch of fragrant soil. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and seductive, with firm, fine-grained tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long with a spicy kick. (LPB)” (10/2023)

Int'l Wine Review
“The 2019 Wildfoote Vineyard ‘Vixen Block’ is an outstanding wine in this vintage. This instantly bursts open with seductive aromatics of ripe blackberries, blueberries and red plums that are laced with exotic spices, loam and dark chocolate that all explode from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied with incredible depth and opulence. This is a big, concentrated and richly layered, Cabernet that is well-structured and retains excellent freshness through the long supple finish. This is showing beautifully now and has the potential to offer a drinking window that spans well beyond a decade. Another sensational wine from Russell Bavan in this vintage. (JD)” (02/2023)

“Darker chocolate, Asian spices, violets, and lead pencil notes emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vineyard, a monster, super-expressive Cabernet with supple, ripe tannins and a great finish. It shows the balanced, forward, incredibly charming style of the vintage and is ideal for drinking over the coming 15-20 years.” (03/2022)

Wine Advocate
“From a vineyard owned by Jean Phillips that Bevan claims is one of the few red-dirt vineyards in Stags Leap District, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Vixen Block Wildfoote Vineyard features notes of licorice, plum and dark toast. Full-bodied, rich, velvety and dense, with a hint of chocolate on the long, plush finish, the wine does develop some delicate wildflower notes with air, so perhaps there is more here than I'm giving it credit for. (JC) 95+” (05/2022)
