2003 Gessinger Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese **
Notes
Albert Gessinger’s estate traces its roots to 1680 in Zeltingen on the Middle Mosel, where the family has grown Riesling for ten generations. The modern winery is small, about 3.2 hectares, focused on steep, Devonian-slate parcels in Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Schlossberg, and Himmelreich. Albert Gessinger and his daughter Sarah continue the family line, with spontaneous fermentations in traditional Fuder and a long, patient cellar approach. Production remains under 2,000 cases, centered almost entirely on Riesling, with small amounts of Spätburgunder and Dornfelder. The estate has been part of the Bernkasteler Ring since 1899.
