Back to a more classic feel of ripeness, the 2020 Pinot Noir Bootlegger's Hill Vineyard is plush with kirsch, forest herbs, and potpourri. Full-bodied, with savory richness on the palate, ripe tannins, and a good purity of fruit, its notes of turned earth, sage, and black cherry fill the palate, with a bit of toasted cedar on the finish. A very classic Russian River pinot with so much ripeness, yet also citrusy with bright acidity. Hibiscus. Medium-bodied, minerally and energetic. So drinkable if you like a vivid young wine, but will age nicely. Drink or hold.

Notes

A vineyard-designated bottling from Kosta Browne's Russian River Valley Pinot Noir program, Bootlegger's Hill sits alongside the producer's other small-lot Sonoma releases. The 1.5L format is a useful detail for buyers looking at cellar placement or larger-table service.
