1959 Louis Latour Beaune 1er Cru "Vignes Franches"
Notes
Maison Louis Latour entered the postwar decade as a long-established Burgundy house rooted in Aloxe-Corton, where the family had built its reputation over generations. By the nineteen-fifties the domaine already held extensive Grand Cru parcels on the hill of Corton, including Corton-Charlemagne and multiple Corton climats, and operated the historic Corton Grancey winery, built in the nineteenth century as one of France’s earliest purpose-built cuveries. The firm had expanded its merchant activity in the previous century, so mid-century production combined estate fruit with purchased grapes, all vinified with a focus on vineyard work and traditional methods. This period set the stage for the modern house, which remains family-owned and centered on its Aloxe-Corton holdings.
