Exotically spicy and boldly concentrated, this is a demonstrative Champans. Flourishes of summer bouquet, cranberry preserves, cherry coulis and white pepper skip across the midweight palate. Chalky minerality gives this some tannic tug on the extended finish that is lifted by tonic acidity. Exuberance in a glass!

Note: from a .52 ha holding of 85+ year old vines planted in deep sandy soil with dense but small rocks. An even more expressive nose combines notes of red and dark currant, cherry and a various of floral elements. The gorgeously textured middle weight flavors possess a finer, if less powerful, mouthfeel on the more complex and slightly longer finish where a touch of sweetness slowly emerges. A glowing ruby colour, with a bouquet of superior class, a bevy of little red fruits, on the fresher side, which continue across the palate. Ripe redcurrant, fresh raspberry, Griotte cherry. Drink from 2031-2036. Tasted Oct 2024.
