Review Date: 05/2025Sleek and focused for a Beaune premier cru with mineral acidity and dried-flower delicacy. Still very youthful but with stunning elegance and vitality on the medium-bodied palate. Wonderful blood-orange freshness in the long, sleek finish. From a steep, east-facing slope with very thin, stony soil. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now but best from 2026.

When first tasted, the engaging Beaune Teurons from Bouchard initially presented a lively, forward aroma of cherry and wild strawberries, along with a floral note. Closer to the end of its maturation the fruit seemed softer and lusher, with a dense and creamy texture, yet retained the bright acidity to bring it to a lively balance. The grapes are from 2.3ha of domaine-owned vines in the early-ripening alluvial soils of the dejection cone in the valley leading to the Hautes-Côtes. The grapes are partially destemmed and carefully fermented before ageing in cask.(CC)

Note: from a 1.7 ha parcel. A highly expressive and agreeably nose features notes of primarily red cherry, violet and discreet earth where the latter element is picked up by the delicious and solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that terminate in a balanced, youthfully austere and sleek finale. This is lovely and while it could use more depth, that should reasonably develop if given a chance.

Aromas of cassis, orange zest, vine smoke and peonies introduce the 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons, a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy wine with a textural core of fruit, lively acids and a suave, complete profile.
The 2023 vintage is another strong performance from Bouchard Père et Fils. Frédéric Weber performed extensive green harvesting when the size of the crop became apparent, dropping as much as half the vines' production to end up with yields in the region of 40-42 hectoliters per hectare. The season was hot, but with lots of showers, so hydric stress wasn't an issue; and like others, they advanced picking dates due to the early September heat wave. Interestingly, maturation didn't follow the usual pattern: Volnay Caillerets, for example, which usually begins the red harvest chez Bouchard, was late to ripen, whereas some habitually late parcels were early.(WK)
