An attractive mid lemon yellow. A classy bouquet, offering elegance weight and sunshine together, a really fine balance, with a lingering finish. You see the hillside, yet you don’t lose sight of Meursault. The Meursault Les Clous has come into focus since I first saw it in barrel. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted Nov 2025.

The 2023 Meursault Les Clous is quite expressive this year, exhibiting notes of musky peach, white flowers and pear, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate with a satiny attack and a chalky finish.
The 2023 vintage is another strong performance from Bouchard Père et Fils. Frédéric Weber performed extensive green harvesting when the size of the crop became apparent, dropping as much as half the vines' production to end up with yields in the region of 40-42 hectoliters per hectare. The season was hot, but with lots of showers, so hydric stress wasn't an issue; and like others, they advanced picking dates due to the early September heat wave. Interestingly, maturation didn't follow the usual pattern: Volnay Caillerets, for example, which usually begins the red harvest chez Bouchard, was late to ripen, whereas some habitually late parcels were early.(WK)

Note: from a huge holding of about 5 ha. A discreet application of wood frames bright and fresh aromas that include notes of Granny Smith apple, white flowers and mineral reduction. One again there is a beguiling sense of underlying tension to the acceptably concentrated and lightly stony flavors that display good length if only average depth on the youthfully austere finale.
