Smell the honeysuckle and wild herbs. This has inspiring floral and leafy aspects but also all the richness and the note of honey we associate with this site. Compact structure on the medium-bodied palate. The long, succulent and polished finish makes this very hard to resist. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Tasted twice with consistent results, the Genevrières from Bouchard offers aromas of ripe apple, quince, and apricot touched with gingery spice and a saline mineral quality. The texture of the wine was dense and rich, but there was a surprising amount of racy acidity. Bouchard has reorganised their holdings in Genevrières; the grapes are now from two domaine-owned parcels totalling 1.85ha; they are gently pressed as whole clusters and fermented and aged over two winters in cask (25% new).(CC)

Mid lemon in colour. The bouquet offers the lifted tingling fresh herb aspect of Genevrières which we know and love. There is no shortage of fruit on the palate, without undue flesh. A really fine-boned example. Bouchard, and so now Domaine des Cabottes, have an excellent track record with this vineyard. Drink from 2029-2038. Tasted Nov 2025.

The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is excellent, mingling aromas of pear and apple with hints of clear honey, white flowers, toasted nuts and buttery pastry. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's layered and lively, concluding with chalky grip on the finish. The 2023 vintage is another strong performance from Bouchard Père et Fils. Frédéric Weber performed extensive green harvesting when the size of the crop became apparent, dropping as much as half the vines' production to end up with yields in the region of 40-42 hectoliters per hectare. The season was hot, but with lots of showers, so hydric stress wasn't an issue; and like others, they advanced picking dates due to the early September heat wave. Interestingly, maturation didn't follow the usual pattern: Volnay Caillerets, for example, which usually begins the red harvest chez Bouchard, was late to ripen, whereas some habitually late parcels were early.(WK)
