Guillaume Michel’s 2024 Chablis villages had also been bottled in September of 2025. The wine shows a beautiful blend of pure and perfectly ripe fruit and classic underlying minerality in this vintage, delivering a complex and beautifully expressive nose of pear, lime, chalky minerality, anise and a topnote of fruit blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, zesty and complex, with a lovely core of fruit, fine soil undertow, a lovely spine of acidity and a long, complex and very nicely balanced finish. Good juice. 2026-2045+.

Note: from Les Cartes, Bas de Chapelot and Les Pargues. There is a hint of phenolic character to the slightly riper aromas of pear and apple compote, mineral reduction and a lovely hint of ocean breeze. The finer, though not denser, middle weight flavors possess a lilting texture on the equally austere finale that could use better depth so an extra year of cellaring should be helpful.

Clear fresh colour. More typical Chablis on the nose. Softer fruit up front, more trenchant acidity behind. Fair length. 12.2% after chaptalisation. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Jun 2025.

Offering up aromas of pear, beeswax, white flowers and Granny Smith apple, the 2024 Chablis Village is medium-bodied and moderately concentrated, framed by a crisp core of fruit and underpinned by vibrant acidity, concluding with a saline, though not especially persistent, finish. Guillaume Michel presides over this 25-hectare estate, with most of the land located in the historic part of Chablis. This estate has long been a reference point for tank-fermented and -matured Chablis, a style that the Michel family helped to popularize in the 1980s. Intense and tensile wines are the calling card here, pure and unadorned in style. Seventy percent of Michel’s holdings are in premier cru and grand cru zones, with the average age of vines being 50 years. Today, seven people work in the vineyards year-round. Organic farming is practiced, except for years with major weather incidents.(KK)

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "More airy – more open mineral and floral top notes with an attractive almost white flesh citrus that supports. A fizz of energy – perhaps a faint CO2 helping that! Wide, mobile, even a little mandarin fruit complexity,. Really extra in the finish – hyper complex agrume – still with some mandarin – that’s great too – but I’d drink the PC first…"(02/2026)
