2025 Feudo Montoni "Rose di Adele" Nerello Mascalese Sicilia Rose

Notes

The 2025 Feudo Montoni "Rose di Adele" Rosato is a brilliantly chiseled, highly vibrant organic rosé that showcases the inland, high-altitude alpine terroir of central Sicily. Hailing from a single-vineyard cru of 40-year-old Nerello Mascalese vines planted roughly 600 meters above sea level, Fabio Sireci lets the grape run wild in a completely unique environment—far removed from both the volcanic sands of Etna and the maritime heat of the coast. To preserve the wine's raw verticality and primary energy, the hand-harvested fruit underwent a precise cold cryomaceration before fermenting and resting for six months on its fine lees with regular bâtonnage exclusively in cement containers, bottled entirely without wood contact. In the glass, it shows a pale, luminous "onion skin" pink with bright salmon highlights. The nose is extraordinarily pretty and highly fragrant, opening with a distinct, heady perfume of pink rose petals and wild violets (honoring the actual rose garden Fabio’s father planted for his wife, Adele). This floral lift quickly gives way to crunchy wild strawberries, pomegranate seeds, and sour red currants, layered with savory undertones of wild fennel, clove, and a stark, briny sea-salt edge. On the palate, the wine delivers exceptional structural focus. It is driven by a racy, nervous line of acidity that cuts cleanly through the primary red fruit core, balanced by a subtle, structural grip of fine-grained phenolics characteristic of the Nerello grape.
