Sourced from 10 parcels, the 2023 Saint-Aubin La Princée unfurls aromas of pear, white flowers and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium-bodied, bright and racy palate that is chalky and layered, culminating in a precise finish. It comes warmly recommended. Harvested between September 2 and 12, Olivier Lamy has produced another compelling range of wines in 2023, despite below-average rainfall, a hot growing season and localized hail in July. This year, he pursued greater extraction to endow the wines with a more pronounced dry extract, lending them a firmer structure and a heightened sensation of freshness. The 2023 Saint-Aubin La Princée comes from a vineyard suffering degeneration of vines, so one-third is younger vines. It has another vivid bouquet with yellow plum and citrus peel scents, just a touch of dewy green apple. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a keen line of acidity, open and quite forward with Cornice pear and cooking apple notes towards the finish. Delightful.(NM)
