The 2020 La Prevostura Lessona is a brilliant, textbook testament to why the ancient marine sands of Lessona yield some of the most elegant, high-toned expressions of Nebbiolo (locally Spanna) in the entire Alto Piemonte. Sourced from south-facing, terraced vineyards sitting 350 meters above sea level, this estate thrives on preserving the hyper-regional chiseled structure that makes northern Piedmont so utterly captivating. Following a traditional, lengthy maceration, the 2020 was raised with absolute transparency—spending roughly 22 months in neutral, large slavonian oak casks (botti) and older tonneaux to safeguard the pristine, crystalline character of the fruit from any clumsy, heavy oak makeup. In the glass, it pours a beautiful, translucent pale garnet-ruby color.
