Review Date: 01/2024The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Corvées des Vignes comes from vines planted in 1955. There are touches of yellow fruit and beeswax on the nose and fine delineation, though it does not have the precision of the Champs Gains. The palate is well-balanced, taut, and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity, elegant in style, with hints of nectarine and lemon rind on the finish. Crack this open after two or three years.(NM)

So, always the question is, can this compete with the best of Vincent Dureuil-Janthial’s Rully cuvées? Probably hard for it when it comes at the end of this range. The Puligny comes across as plumper, with less green energy. Generous white fruit with its necessary backbone, and good length. Anywhere else this would come across a sa fine wine, but here it does not seem to have quite the same personality as the best of Rully. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Apr 2024.

A more floral-infused nose freely offers up its aromas of acacia, white rose and exotic tea along with plenty of citrus and apple influences. The sleeker and more refined though markedly less concentrated middle weight flavors display excellent length, particularly for a villages-level wine, on the youthfully austere and moderate compact finale where a subtle touch of wood slowly emerges. This too is recommended.*Burghound Outstanding!*
