An incredibly pure, concentrated white, showing discreet, integrated fine toast and layers of citrus and stone fruit. Full-bodied and dense with a taut center palate and a very long finish. Sensuous but bright. Drink or hold.

The domaine has five plots in Les Frionnes, of which the youngest is declassified. Planting dates vary between 1935 and 2011. The soil is mostly marl with some marine fossils. Pale lemon and lime in colour. Medium ripeness, still; the very chiselled aspect but with slightly more fruit weight. This model follows through very well on the palate, with waves of characterful orchard fruit and a little ripe citrus. Very long. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2025.

From white marl over limestone, akin to the Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis, the 2023 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes emerges from the glass with aromas of nashi pear, white flowers, oyster juice, white peach and lemon oil. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, pure and chiseled, with a crisp core of fruit and ample chalky extract, concluding in a long, saline finish. Oceanic in style, it will delight purists. Harvested between September 2 and 12, Olivier Lamy has produced another compelling range of wines in 2023, despite below-average rainfall, a hot growing season and localized hail in July. This year, he pursued greater extraction to endow the wines with a more pronounced dry extract, lending them a firmer structure and a heightened sensation of freshness. After all, he is a vigneron who believes that taste matters more than mere analysis.(KK)

An even cooler and airier nose reflects notes of Granny Smith apple, plenty of citrus and a whiff of mineral reduction. The racy and beautifully delineated medium weight flavors are not dense but they possess a cuts-like-a-knife precision as well as a borderline aggressive stoniness on the very dry, chiseled and sneaky long finale. This is classic Frionnes and a wine that is also very much recommended provided you have at least moderate patience as it is definitely not 'pop and pour' St. Aubin.*Burghound Outstanding!*
