Medium-bodied, the palate is balanced, straightforward and uncomplicated, ending with a simple lingering finish that delivers pleasure. Orpheus & The Raven is a boutique Cape wine brand founded in 2015 by winemaker Etienne Louw and graphic designer Brenden Schwartz under their umbrella company Vinoneers, based in Salt River, Cape Town. The brand takes its name from the alter-egos of its founders: Orpheus references Louw's identity as a classically trained musician, while the Raven derives from the Schwartz family crest, with each wine's label featuring hand-drawn baroque-style illustrations inspired by the 16th-century German artist Albrecht Dürer. The No. 42 designation is a reference to the "answer to the ultimate question," a nod to the philosophical spirit at the heart of the brand.
