2022 Domaine Jean-Michel Dupré Morgon "Le Griottier"

Review Date: 07/2024I have not tasted this bottling since the 2015 vintage and was very happy to receive a sample of the fine 2022 version. Readers may recall that this is made from a parcel of vines that are now more than eighty years of age, with the wine fermented with native yeasts and raised in cement vats. The 2022 le Griottier delivers an excellent and sappy nose of red and black cherries, pomegranate, gamebird, a fine base of granitic soil, distant bonfire and a lovely floral note redolent of peonies. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a sappy core of fruit, lovely soil undertow, fine-grained, moderate tannins and a long, beautifully balanced finish. This is first class Morgon! (Drink between 2024-2055)
