Domaine de Montille is a family estate based in Volnay with roots in the Burgundy wine world traceable to the 14th century, reduced by phylloxera to barely three hectares by the mid-20th century before Hubert de Montille began methodically rebuilding it parcel by parcel. Hubert divided his career between a successful legal practice and his vines, becoming one of the most vocal advocates for terroir-driven Burgundy at a time when most of the region's production was in the hands of the négoce, with his Volnay premier crus among the most celebrated of his generation. The estate is now run by his son Etienne, who converted the vineyards to organic and subsequently biodynamic farming and has expanded the holdings to over 30 hectares across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits.
