Beatus Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a small-production collaboration between Washington winemaker Todd Alexander and Château de la Font du Loup in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The wine is built primarily from old-vine Grenache grown in the “Le Poteau” parcel at the top of La Crau, one of the highest and coolest sectors of the appellation, with small additions of Syrah and Mourvèdre from surrounding estate parcels. Production is extremely limited—generally only a few hundred cases annually—and the project was created to highlight a more elegant, tension-driven expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
