Rose petals, incense, cinnamon, steeped plums and ash only begin to paint the picture as the dramatic 2019 Etna Rosso Centenari blossoms in the glass. This is dark and radiant with silken textures and tart red and black fruits that slowly saturate, all kept in perfect balance by a core of tantalizing acidity. The 2019 leaves a coating of grippy tannins, keeping the mouth watering as hints of blood orange meet sour cherry tones. In the end, it’s the chalky minerality that lingers on and seals the deal. Fantastic. This is close in form to the killer 2016. (EG)
