I always love this cuvee and the 2014 Creative Impulse Dubrul Vineyard (56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot) is another beautiful wine and great vintage from this estate. Showing the savory, red and black fruit-driven profile of the vineyard, it's loaded with notions of dried spices, lead pencil shavings, graphite and herbes de Provence-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, supple, elegant and seamless on the palate, with impeccable balance, it's going to shine with 2-3 years of cellaring and keep for another decade or more. (JD)

Some graphite and dark plums here as well as notes of cassis and coal dust. The palate has a mellow feel with a savory, stony core wrapped in red plums and berries. Holds long and even. Blend of 56% cabernet sauvignon and 44% merlot.

Bright ruby-red. Complex, claret-like aromas of currant, graphite, mocha and spicecake. Suave, lively, fine-grained wine with terrific inner-mouth energy to its dark berry, spice and dark chocolate flavors. I find this a bit riper and less herbal and peppery than the 2013 version at the same stage, and much more accessible. Finishes with fine-grained, tongue-dusting tannins and lovely subtle rising length. This very suave wine is sexy already but has the balance and spine to evolve gracefully. (ST)

Notes

Rasa Vineyards was founded in 2007 by brothers Pinto and Billo Naravane after leaving the tech world to build a terroir driven project in the Walla Walla Valley. They purchased twenty eight acres in Milton Freewater, Oregon, in what later became the Rocks District AVA, and began producing wines sourced from top Eastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon vineyards. Early releases like QED and Principia earned high critical praise, establishing the winery’s reputation for precision and site focus. Billo Naravane completed the UC Davis winemaking program and later earned the Master of Wine title in 2017. Production continues to center on small lots shaped by meticulous viticulture and minimal intervention.
