More meaty, rich and powerful, the single vineyard 2010 Occam’s Razor Block 10 is 100% Syrah that comes from the Block 10 (planted in 1997) of the Seven Hills Vineyard. Aged mostly in neutral French oak and showing notions of pepper, raspberry, truffle and chocolate on the nose, it is a full-bodied, decadent effort that has good acidity, pure fruit and a great finish. It’s a big wine, but it’s beautifully done and will deliver the goods for upwards of a decade or more. (JD)

Vinous

Good bright, deep red-ruby. Red berries, menthol and pepper on the nose, accented by wild mint. Bright and tightly coiled, showing moderate flesh today but impressive complexity to its flavors of pomegranate, cranberry, sage and mint. Finishes with good saline energy and a touch of tart berries. This needs time in bottle to blossom. 90+ (ST)

Velvety, dark and expressive, with licorice and smoke notes weaving through the black fruit flavors, lingering on the polished finish. (HS)

Notes

Rasa Vineyards was founded in 2007 by brothers Pinto and Billo Naravane after leaving the tech world to build a terroir driven project in the Walla Walla Valley. They purchased twenty eight acres in Milton Freewater, Oregon, in what later became the Rocks District AVA, and began producing wines sourced from top Eastern Washington and Northeastern Oregon vineyards. Early releases like QED and Principia earned high critical praise, establishing the winery’s reputation for precision and site focus. Billo Naravane completed the UC Davis winemaking program and later earned the Master of Wine title in 2017. Production continues to center on small lots shaped by meticulous viticulture and minimal intervention.
