Cabot Vineyards is a small family winery in Humboldt County founded by John and Kimberly Cabot in 1998. They farm vineyards in the Klamath River region near Orleans, an isolated inland zone known for steep terraces and varied soils. The estate focuses on Syrah and other Rhône varieties planted in the early 2000s as the family developed their hillside sites. Farming is organic and low input, and production stays small, usually under two thousand cases a year. Winemaking is straightforward and vineyard driven, with fermentations in small lots and aging in older barrels. Cabot remains one of the few established producers working this remote corner of northern California.
