Review Date: 08/2024All Syrah and released only in magnum, the deep purple-hued 2022 Syrah OGT has a sumptuous nose of blackberries, liquid violets, iron, and peppery herbs. This carries to a powerful, full-bodied Syrah with a focused, structured, inward mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and solid underlying acidity. It's a beauty, but the cellar will be your friend on this one. Hide bottles for 2-4 years, and it will keep for 15-20 years in cold cellars. (JD) 96+

The 2022 Syrah OGT is a blend of 50% Colson Canyon and 25% each Syrah from Thompson and the Estate vineyard in Los Olivos. A powerful, deep wine, the 2022 is best left alone in the cellar for a year or two. Readers who don't mind a bit of youthful tannin can get away with giving this a good decant. Dark and brooding, the 2022 offers up copious black/purplish fruit, new leather, gravel, incense, licorice and scorched earth. It is one of the more virile wines in this stellar lineup from Joey Tensley. (AG) 95+

The 2022 Syrah OGT, bottled only in magnums, is reticent to begin and takes plenty of aeration to reveal mixed berry jam, milk chocolate, aniseed and garrigue. The full-bodied palate's fragrant fruit is supported by finely grained tannins and juicy acidity, and it has a long, floral finish. It deserves 3-5+ years in bottle to unwind. (EB) 94+
