Bursting with ripe stone fruit, fresh pineapple and a wide spectrum of citrus aromas, this great Mosel GG is a joy to experience. So rich and succulent on the medium-bodied palate, but also fabulous delicacy and detail. Fantastically long and filigreed finish with wonderful Amalfi lemon freshness. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Riesling Zeltinger Schlossberg GG, picked in the exposed Braun parcel, offers seductive hints of peach on the nose. The palate adds creamy smoothness and bright lemon, with a supple texture that anchors it in the soil and hints tantalizingly at creamy peach. Everything is present and will come to the fore. This is delicious and understated.(AK)

Review Date: 02/2026
From two airy or windy parcels (Schmitt and Braun), the intensely yellow-colored 2023 Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling GG opens with an intense and refined bouquet of ripe and concentrated white seed fruits. Full-bodied, intense and savory on the palate, this is a quite powerful and, on the finish, rather astringent Riesling with a creamy texture and persistent mineral grip. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2026.(SR)

Notes

93pts Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 43 24. The Schlossberg 2023 GG, as it is referred to on the consumer label, was made from 2 parcels with 40-45-year-old vines in a south-west facing in the lower part of the vineyard (next to the Bömer). It displays a beautifully complex and superbly fresh nose of violet, lavender, blueberry, bergamot, smoke, almond, plum, and spearmint. The wine is comparatively light-weighted and delicately creamy rather than bone-dry, and leaves a focused and juicy feel in the very long and playful finish. There is just a hint of mouth-watering tartness in the background, which adds layers of freshness to the whole. This is an impressive, complex smooth GG. 2027-2038."(01/2025)
