Int'l Wine Review

Another stunning wine from the team at Weathereye. This is a classic Red Mountain Cabernet perfected by winemaker Todd Alexander. Deep, rich dark purple cored with a neon raspberry rim, the nose absolutely pops from the glass with aromas of blue plums, wild huckleberries, crushed blackberry, cassis, vanilla bean, cedary herbs, dried sagebrush, tobacco leaf, and melted chocolate. Grippy on the finish, the tannins need a few years to soften up, but you can feel the potential of the wine with each sip. I love the lime zest note you get at the very back of your palate - it’s incredible. Please give yourself at least 2 years to open this up because it’s going to be spectacular with time. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.

Owen Bargreen

Juicy, bright and a total knockout, the 2020 WeatherEye Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from from three different sites in the WeatherEye Vineyard. Stored in 70% new French oak before bottling, this delivers fantastic freshness and balance, with deep concentration. Iron and black currant cordial with violets, alongside firm tannins and shades of Black Forest Cake all brilliantly combine on the palate. Plush and soft, showing beautiful refinement, this is just an infant right now so be sure to give this two hours in the decanter before consuming. Drink 2023-2033

Jeb Dunnuck

Probably my favorite in the lineup, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate sports a dense purple/plum hue to go with Pauillac-like aromatics of blackcurrants, blueberries, freshly sharpened pencils, violets, and a liquid rock-like sense of minerality. Concentrated, focused, medium to full-bodied, and structured, it has a great mid-palate, masses of ripe tannins, and a great finish. It needs to be forgotten in the back of the cellar for 4-6 years but should have 2-3 decades of overall longevity. 96+

Wine Advocate

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is big, bold and delicate with juicy notions of dusty black cherry skin, expressive blackberry and hints of sage with a kiss of volatility, offering a rich and round expression with a delicate mineral essence. Full-bodied, the palate shows varietal purity wrapped in a balanced coat of ripeness, with a succulent opulence and fresh mouthfeel. The wine continues to unpack over the long, lingering finish and will no doubt remain food-friendly for a decade. The wine was aged in 75% new French oak. 2,100 bottles produced. This is set to be released in August of 2023. Keep an eye out for this producer for amazing things to come!
