Cakebread Cellars was founded in 1972 when Jack and Dolores Cakebread purchased the Sturdivant Ranch in Rutherford, releasing their first wine — a 1973 Chardonnay — in 1974. The family-owned winery farms multiple estate properties across Napa Valley and has been led by head winemaker Stephanie Jacobs since 2017, the fourth winemaker in the winery's history.
