2004 Quivira "Wine Creek Ranch" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

Notes

Quivira began in nineteen eighty-one when Holly and Henry Wendt established the estate in Dry Creek Valley, focusing early on organically farmed vineyards and the restoration of Wine Creek, the Coho and Steelhead spawning stream that runs through the property. Pete and Terri Kight purchased the winery in two thousand six and continued expanding its sustainability work, including the long-maintained garden program and preservation of the historic fig tree. Production centers on Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rhône varieties grown across roughly fifty-nine organically farmed acres of gravelly and sandy loam soils. Winemaker Hugh Chappelle works with low-input methods, using blending, co-fermentation, phased harvesting, and selective barrel aging to highlight site character.
