Imperial purple in colour. The voluptuous style of this great vineyard does become apparent on the nose. It does retain a stricter sense of definition and there are some tannins at the back, so we are not completely submerged in succulence. This clearly needs a lot more elevage which of course it will get. An ideal fruit acid balance, and naturally fine persistence. Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Nov 2025.

My initial reaction upon tasting this was ‘Here is Musigny performing at the top of its potential.’ Whether you were a fan of the older style of de Vogüé Musigny or not, it was undeniably slow to open. The new winemaker’s adaptations of style have given this an opulent sheen from barrel, with lushly ripe mulberry and pomegranate fruit aromas, earth, spice and floral notes. It is a wine of complexity and depth that should drink well in five to seven years and (even in 2024) last for decades.(CC)

Even though it was cropped at 7hl/ha, de Vogüé still managed to produce 30 barrels of the 2024 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru due to the size of their holding. This has an exquisite nose: mainly dark cherry fruit, violet and cool glade scents, undergrowth bordering on mulch. Complex and enticing. The palate is medium-bodied with insistent grip. Superb structure and tangible mineralité, this Musigny is one of the few from this area to deliver real weight and grip on the finish. Arguably the only genuine success from this auspicious Grand Cru in 2024, thanks mainly to the sizeable holding giving Jean Lupatelli numerous barrels to blend, something denied every other grower.(NM)

Brilliantly aromatic, this starts with cherry cobbler, rose and sous bois. Fancy fresh oak tones of wood smoke, exotic spices and ganache contribute layers of complexity and fine, structuring tannins. Deeply vinous, with crackling structuring acidity, this moves gently into a long-lasting, crystalline and thoroughly savory finish. Jean Lupatelli suggests waiting at least 10 to 12 years for this wine.
